Certification Program Details

The Microprocessor in Traffic Signals course presents the basics of microprocessors and their applications as they apply to traffic control devices and discusses the architecture, operation, and programming aspects of microprocessors. some material presented on the input and output devices pertaining to traffic control, only the chips and devices that are directly connected to the circuitry are discussed. Load switches, power supplies, detection devices and signal heads are considered, but only as inputs or outputs to the microprocessor. The student is expected to have previous knowledge of these devices and has had a digital logic course or is familiar with the binary number system, gates, flip flops, timers, and counters, obtained from course work, and field experience.
